I landed on the SE plateau and got booted back to orbit.

I think it moved a lot more than three times for me but in the end it sat there under cannon fire for quite a while and finally blew up.  I had about 3/4 of the map at that point.  It's initial landing point would have been safer than where it was sitting but the landing was under fire (although I'm not sure I had the terrain terped enough that it the cannon actually had a path.)  The only truly safe location would have been to retreat pretty close to the corner and of course that wouldn't have been safe for long.
