Always great to see a MadMag game in the offing.
Just a few minutes in and trying to survive.
Great fun so far!

What version of CW3 was used to make this? I have ver 1.82 and that is the latest version available, and I still get the popup about newer version.

Hi -
Keep track of this thread for the latest versions:

Ok, it's time to admit i'm the worst CW3 player on this board.
I just can't seem to reach a safe state, sooner or later the landing square gets overrun. There is never enough energy to fully power the four to six mortars that are required just on the left side. -_-'

This looks like a good map, it would be a shame to file as another map i'll never beat.
Tips?

MadMag

Try to take out the emitter to the right of the starting area right away.

@worthstream - you actually have quite a bit of time before that left side gets a good build up of Creeper.
One Mortar and one PC held things off until I got the first right side Emitter.
I had a hard time getting 'safe' - between the Creeper on the left and the Spores flying.
Finally managed to build up some energy and get my Totem built, and am extending my attack.
Still no idea what that giant cannon up top is, but will find out soon.

This might not help much - it's 17 minutes in to the game - but a good look at the energy you can get and how easy it is to control the left side Creeper.

Wow!
That was a brutal fight for me.
It didn't help that I started attacking in the wrong direction (twice!), and couldn't figure out how to attack that monster cannon.
Final answer (not a Spoiler) was Charge of the Light Brigade.

MadDog - you outdid yourself on this one.
Big 10 and a Fav!

Katra

After an hour game time - and many restarts/reload from save - I have achieved a stalemate that looks permanent. Without terps I have no way to advance. (I was never able to get the right side emitter - either a spore would get my relay or it would eat so much energy trying my base would be overrun.)
Power. Power! I must have more POWER!

I'll remove these if anyone objects, but they are taken at about :30, 1:00, and 1:30
Getting that first Emitter gone (creating a PZ) defending from the left and defending from the Spores are the top three priorities.

Those last three images will be helpful, i found myself almost in the same situation as Katra.

When do you start building the forge and the Bertha?

I'll try again tomorrow, playing CW3 is not compatible whit a productine evening of work. ;)

RealAndy

I was in a similar state to Katra but I did have the forge, slowly got some basic techs (energy, rate) by sending guppies to the spinny things (still don't remember all the names).

Anyway, my next move was a breakout to the South East, with the help of a couple of strafers.  It was slow, but I eventually claimed a few low lying bits of land.  Then worked up to the hill in the East and once I'd nullified the emitter there it was relatively strait forward, but still lots of fun.

Great map.

Loved this one! It's refreshing to have the not-so-easy start every now and then - I'd suggest NOT saving, if you like that little extra bit of a thrill.  ;D

If you haven't done MadMag's maps, search for his name and play a few! Pretty fun stuffs!
You disagree with this sentence, don't you?
