I guess I'll be the first to ask - what was the secret to the Terry Gilliam map?

No secrets, just energy management. You have to pick up the white gem, when field is convenient.

Picking up the white gem isn't absolutely essential, but it does help. My first play through of the map was done without grabbing the diamond until after I'd killed the first emitter, but I realized that the fields would allow me to grab it earlier on my second run. You can also take advantage of the fields keeping the creeper out of the way to nullify the first emitter at around the 1:30 mark without needing to build any shields to protect it. The main thing is to get the first two shields into place so that the creeper never erupts above ground level, and then you can build up on the left side first, including grabbing all of the gems over there and building up infrastructure. You can start collecting gems and get some reactors built before you have to build a 2nd set of shields to contain the creeper after it breaks the first set, and then you just build some blasters to handle the drones when they break out, finish building up your infrastructure and from there it's fairly routine.
