Hints. No way I can see to have both energy and defense.

My score isn't the greatest, but here is how I started.  Click the Spoiler button to see:

Build a few collectors, then start building a mortar.
Cover the central mountain mostly with reactors, and just enough collectors to connect them.
Meanwhile, build a second mortar.
Position the mortars on the northern and southern ridges of the mountain.
Build a couple of drones and keep striking the deep creeper further away.
You should now have enough energy and firepower to keep the mountain safe, and start expanding.
