Very tough at first.  Tip:

It took me a couple of tries to expand off the initial plateau.  To have both enough firepower and energy to expand, I had to store a few Blasters "in the air" (i.e. flying) while I built Reactors, then I had enough energy to land the Blasters and get fighting.
