My map Cosmos 8840 easy version Difficulty 5/10

First of all, I really like your maps. They're usually challenging in a pretty clever way (i.e., not just an overpowered emitter that floods the map in under 2 minutes).

But I do have two thoughts concerning this particular map:

1) Next time, please release the easy version first. Playing a difficult version and then going to an easy version would be a waste of time for players who've beaten the map already, and for those who are struggling it might feel like an insult. Conversely, beating an easy version and THEN being given the difficult version is more exciting. It's like graduating from High School and then going off to college/university.

2) Concerning the difficulty rating: I think you are rating based on your skill level and not using a scale based on the relative difficulty of other maps in Colonial Space. Granted, there's a lot of subjectivity involved but an 8/10 rating would mean that at least 1 out of 10 maps are more difficult than your map. (Possibly 2 or even 3 out of 10, if it happened to be on the low side of the 8/10 difficulty). And a 5/10 rating would mean it's slightly below average difficulty (only 4 numbers below it and 5 numbers above it). I haven't tried the easier version yet, but I'd bet half my investment portfolio that even this one is more difficult than the average map.

I only mention the difficulty rating because many people get their hopes up when they see data that's represented incorrectly. And then they give the map a low score, and I can't stand seeing good maps getting low ratings. If I can't beat a well-designed map, I give it a high score. Kudos for outsmarting me. But a lot of people who are able to beat 9 out of 10 maps will assume they can beat an 8 out of 10 map. So when they fail, they'll be upset.

I gave your original map a couple runs and it's definitely in the top 200 of the 2000 maps I've played (with respect to difficulty). I'm looking forward to giving it another run when I have time to think a bit harder.  ;)

Thanks for making these challenging maps!  ;D

I sure hope hypnotic22 will create a lot of fun levels, because I simply don't have time to create levels. School means homework and homework means less time to create levels. The amount of regular work hasn't changed that much, but these teachers just keep explaining for longer every next year so I have to do more at home...

And I'm not even talking about all the extra things like powerpoints and other long-term things like that. I could go for a lot longer about why I dislike homework, but that's not the topic here.
When you want an explanation for something I use in my levels, or if you want to suggest something, feel free to tell me. Just don't ask/suggest things every other day please :P

LOL... Tricky, I hear ya dude. Teachers have to go slowly so they won't lose or confuse the average person in the class. I used to just ignore the teachers and read the book myself and do the homework in class. Or play games on my programmable calculator. That was a totally new thing in my day so teachers didn't know about that yet. :P

Or if they won't let you figure out the assignment until after class, then just do your homework in the class right after that class. My English teacher asked me why I was reading a physics book during English class and I explained to her that it helped me to keep paying attention to what she was saying if I had to think about something else to make my brain work harder.

But hey, whatever ya gotta do... you've got a great mind and I'm sure you're working hard. Thanks to you and to all these great map-makers in our community for putting in whatever time you all can to come up with these cool ideas!  ;D
