Why do I need to pick up those two Thors to win this one??

By the time I go to the tough emitters I had plenty of firepower to take them on, there was no reason to loop around for the Thor's.  Thus there wasn't a spec of enemy left by the time I picked them up.

because that's what's required by the game, they are there to help slower players finish faster and if you didn't need them it wouldn't be that hard to just collect them anyway at the end. :)

You don't even need the pyramids.
Feed it tons of energy to get out a shield and some AC... nice, but entirely unnecessary.
And you can't even decide whether you want to waste your energy on the totems or not.
