If a guy's face is full of creeper, would it be ok to say he has a creepy face?

I saw this had a low rating and I'm guessing someone thought it was too difficult. Sorry for that, m8 - because it's a cool map. I like the initial pressure at the start, and the only thing I would have preferred is for the threat to continue to increase. Once you can hold off the spore towers & creep there's no need to rush.

Overall, I thought this map was very well-designed. It's not so difficult that you feel like you have to pause it once you start the game, but it's a solid challenge, at least at the start.

Thanks for the map!  ;D

...So I'm going to note that I disagree rather thoroughly with Johnny Haywire about the difficulty of this map. I found it almost impossible to get a start—it took me a good dozen tries to hit upon the right combination. For anyone else having trouble, here's what I finally did:

Spoiler
Start at the bottom-center, in the little corner made by the line of his shirt. Build three collectors, reactor, ore mine, sprayer. Also start another reactor and micro deactivate/activate to get it as far along as possible without slowing down the sprayer build. The sprayer will finish just in time to keep any of the collectors from dying. Breathe a sigh of relief because holy crap you have tons of energy. Get one mortar and two beams up around the same time, just in time for spores. Squeeze in reactors whenever you have spare energy (including *before* mortar and beams) and you should pretty quickly have enough to build a second mortar and a couple blasters and start expanding. Once you can get the second ore mine up, you can use the sprayer nearly full-time and should have no trouble nullifying the emitters on the left.

After that, I agree that—like many maps—the difficulty eases off dramatically. For me, the end turned into a rush to clear large areas so I could build relays and place nullifiers, rather than an actual fight...

Sorry, Daniels... I shouldn't have said it's not so difficult that you feel like you have to pause. That implies it's that way for most players. A few of us have been playing the game for quite a while so naturally things are easier.

As far as pausing, my personal preference is to start a difficult game at 1x speed and then increase it to 4-8x speed but to never pause or save the game. I like the feel of a RTS game where you have a control of speed than something like chess where the speed at which one thinks & reacts isn't so crucial.

As I remember, this map would be like an 8/10 on a difficulty rating. 10/10 would be one I have to pause and/or save, and I wouldn't rate a map I can't beat since I wouldn't have a complete frame of reference from which to evaluate its difficulty.

Cheers, and welcome to the game!  ;D
