If you need to edit already exsisting images to suit your needs, this is the program to go to!

GNU / Graphics Image Manipulation Program...   G.I.M.P.

http://www.gimp.org/

It is basically photoshop, but everything is exsplained with ? or a mouse over in much better detail.

Why pay like 300 bucks for professional image manipulation program when you can get one for free?

I should note this is not an add, kinda looks like one now that I look at it.... it's just what I've been using (already altered like 4 images for CRPL cores with it) Mainly recoloring by using   select>by color   then color>colorize  to make units look currupted by creeper then drawing thin little digitas like lines over them.. hehe  (see bellow)

I just want to share it, I use to use my moms photoshop for stuff like this all the time but this is just as good if not better.

Here are the resorces I've been using

Units from the game:

For Windows, I like to use Paint.NET (getpaint.net). It's a bit easier to use than GIMP, and does the simple tasks I usually need. It's also available for the low, low price of free.

I have used both GIMP and Paint.NET. And they work for Windows, which mean they're what I use if I need those tools.
Unfortunately, while I hate everything else about OSX, the image editor I prefer is Seashore for OSX.

But the best editor ever was MS Paint for Windows 95, IMO. You could work with such precision. None of this Auto-Anti-Aliasing-That-You-Can't-Turn-Off bullshit. I rank it above Seashore because it was for windows. But Seashore takes second place, and would take first if it were for Windows.

Paint.NET was originally intended to be a replacement for the built-in Paint (which is still there in Win 7, and probably 8). Microsoft abandoned it, and the developers released it freeware, or so the story goes.

Anyway, it has a little "Antialiasing Enabled/Disabled" button right there on the toolbar.

Yeah, but the Win 7 paint sucks.
And I'm just grumpy about the AA, don't mind me on that. The tools are still too hard to use reliably.

I'm a math/science person. I find "art" hard in general. :)

I tried GIMP, and it was hard to understand. Mostly I use Paint.NET.

Azraile

paintshop and the like ARE hard to understand in general lol

so there free versions are too

gimp has better help menues and mouse overs though that help a lot.. .and i think one of those click a ? and then everything has exspanded mouse overs or something?  idk i just know when I was using it I found it a lot easier

The more advanced stuff in Paintshop is hard, but the basic tasks are pretty intuitive, imho. I did not find GIMP to be that way. It was difficult to figure out how to do simple things. It's GUI did not seem the lease bit intuitive to me. Paint.NET seems to be a cross between MS Paint and Photoshop, and I like the way it works - kind of like MS Paint with layers, transparency, and some extra tools. It's also lightweight enough to be your default editor instead of MS Paint, where Photoshop has a long load time. I haven't used GIMP recently enough to remember how long it takes to load.

Although missing some paint 95 tools, like the

Or the

All three of which I use(d to use) extensively.
