Today, I tried to update from version 1.82 to 2.0.  Had numerous error messages during the install process.  Most mentioned having trouble with files that already existed.  I uninstalled version 1.82, then installed the version 2 patch.  And received this message: IPersist File: Save failed; Code 0x80070005  access denied.  The game opens and my settings, progress in the various sectors, Alpha, Prospector etc are current.  But receiving scores and submitting mine don't work.  However, a rescued world will have a green...stratosphere.

I'm running CW3 in Win 7.

Any ideas?

Thanks
I respect those who quote me the least.

After some more investigation, the Code 0x80070005  access denied error seems to be an authorization/ownership issue.

First step to resolving is to uninstall everything, then reboot and to make sure the uninstall was successful.

Creeper World 3 is installed in one of these locations (depending on your version of Windows and whether you installed the 64-bit or 32-bit version.

C:\Program Files\KnuckleCracker\Creeper World 3\

or in

C:\Program Files (x86)\KnuckleCracker\Creeper World 3\

When you first try to access these locations with Windows File Explorer, you may get a warning, you have to authorize access to the location.

So make sure that there are no files remaining in those locations.

You can either try and install CW3 in a different location (choose a location in the install dialog) or you can try and resolve the authorization issue.

Follow these instructions at your own risk!
