And the challenge here is to ...?  Build one Dark Beam after the other?  Meh.  I expected better of you, Euderick. :P

Oh, I know it's a stinker.  It kind of goes to the point that the dark beam isn't the be all end all.  All too many maps are over once you've collected/implemented the beam so I thought that I's show just how annoying that can be.  The beam quite often ends any challenge left to a map.  Consider it #3 (or#4) in my "bad map" series ;)
Never teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Subtle piece of business, that. Not bad.

The interesting bit would've been multiple routes, though not sure how that would've worked.

I hear you - but it doesn't have to be that way, it's down to the map author.

I tried to balance out the Dark Beam in my maps by limiting the available energy so you don't have an invincible death-ray.

Another way is to limit the number of available mirrors - as you did here, very effectively! - to reduce the role of the Dark Beam.

In my map 'Unfinished Business' you need the DB to win, but it's role is limited to two specific tasks (the rest is done with C-Bombs - but that's mostly 'cos I like them!).

Still, you've registered your protest and stirred up discussion so I'd say your map has served it's purpose...!
Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.

AWWW!!!!! i got to the end but accidentally sold the wrong beam and lost ><
( i didnt delete the uneeded portals.....soooo.......)

this level gives you everything you need to get going in terms of energy and tech upgrades.
first press "p" during the black loading screen, this lets you start paused.
then max the upgrades for packet speed, that's all you need for this map, but i always buy all upgrades anyway, dunno why ::).
then build a DBeam directly under the gateway next to the Liberation Ship (this gateway fires helpful AC phantoms, but you need to kill it at some point, and the AC isn't necessary), and build one in the first alcove along the path. set both to armed (see pic below, click to enlarge), then unpause the game, you should have both up before the drones reach you, then it a case of leapfroggin your DBeams and build MRifts to get packets to them faster. need any more help just ask 8)
