Title: Odin City generates energy in-flight?
Post by: Karsten75 on March 30, 2010, 11:16:03 AM
A common tactic used by the expert players is to fly Odin City to a totem to power up the rift. But something struck me today. It seems as if Odin City *has* to be connected to a grid to generate power in-flight. Although OC by itself can generate .8 energy packets/second, it does not seem to do so while in-flight. Am I correct?

If so, then if a game consists of powering more than two totems and OC cannot be connected to a grid, this strategy will not work?

Yep. About 0.2 (rounded) is generated by the green area when on the ground. The 0.6 (by the onboard reactors) is used to fly. So you can indeed power 2 totems when fully charged before taking off.

It can still work, but you have to land the city to get more packets if it can't connect to the network, and if you can't land the city, then you'll need to use a bridge or SOMETHING to connect to those totems. I use this trick for poison once I cap the emitters.

Yes, you can really bridge almost more than a quarter of the map with just odin city and a blaster, very usefull if you want to get highscores.
