Yes, the "enhanced" version of the Rock/Paper/Scissors game -- Rock/Paper/Scissors/Lizard/Spock -- was described in a The Big Bang Theory episode. I don't know if they invented it, but it is just the kind of thing those hilarious geeks would do.

The artifact messages are all from Spock, so I guess the map is an homage to both The Big Bang Theory and Star Trek.
