Title: Does Adobe Air 3 improve performance?
Post by: iycgtptyarvg on September 27, 2011, 05:33:02 AM
Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a performance improvement when going from Adobe Air 2.x to 3? Creeper World is really slow on my computer (1 second game time is about 5 seconds real time on some maps).

AIR 3 adds support for GPU based graphics acceleration.  My guess is that your computer is both cpu and graphics bound for creeper world.  Without knowing your system specs, I might also guess that your system might not have a support 3D chipset for AIR 3.  Even if it did, there is no guarantee of any performance increase since the 3D support doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the normal 2D graphics routines.

Aha, so CW can't benefit much from the new version?
Ok, shame.

So, there is no harm in upgrading it when the RC becomes final?

I've tested with the AIR 3 pre-release and things look good so far.  But, I will continue to monitor it.

Thank you for the reassurance.
