Is there any particular reason that the LS has a 60 packet limit? Why is it there/why does it need to be there?
You can thank TP for that :P (That's what I have heard)
It started as 30 way back before beta testing. Then Virgil pondered and considered 60 and 90. At about 60, most "reasonable" maps tops out. If you need more, keep Resources handy, then the limit does not apply.
PS. It is resource intensive to animate that many packets as well.
lag
it is lagy for 100 packets to path each second
if you have any crystal energy you can disperse an infinite number of packets per second

wrong, it is 60+Crystal per second

If you generate 100 energy for a second and have a single crystal, you can generate 100. If you have 200 energy, and a single crystal, you can generate 200 energy. the amount you can
potentialy generate with any amount of crystals is infinite (disregarding space limit).
That's why it's really important to have ANY CRYSTAL ENERGY!
