When the next update comes out will it display a message inside the game?

Unfortunately, I do not think so. It has been suggested to Virgil that he had some sort of mechanism for checking for updates.
Aside from the "Be sure to check knucklecracker.com regularly for new game updates" in the credits, no. You'll have to look for yourself when it comes out.
I think it should, just because many people don't even visit the site, forget about it after finishing the in-game missions or expect the game to update itself.
Suscribe to the twitter feed off the blog...at least you'll get an e-mail (if Virgils twits it, that is).
i can only hope one of the updates fixes this.

Right now Virgil's priorities are for the map editor and the code maps.

If I search around, I'm pretty sure I'll find that post where you said your preference was NOT to have the game notify players that an update is available.

Anyone know if Virgil has given a 1-3 days estimate on the next update yet?
I may add a "Check for updates" button in the next build. But the current build does not auto-check. You have to check this web site, the forums, twitter, facebook, etc to know. But it sounds like a good idea to build this into the game, so I likely will.
I have not announced when the next update is coming, but it will likely be within the next 2 weeks. Code maps have come along nicely, and a few other things have also made it into the release. That, and I'm itching to get to custom maps.

please scratch the editor at least into beta (you've had it for 7-8 months)
it would also be nice if we could turn off the ammo/build packets like in cw1 so we can get something built quickly when our energy is running out from weaps and building at the same time so we dont risk losing stuff theres a very nice spot for it under the techs button. also being able to make our own custom weapons would be very nice as well
a check for updates button is a perfect solution.
You'd still have to click it, and you may forget - same as you may forget to check any of the myriad places a new release is usually announced.

Well the main difference is I play creeper world 2 everyday and I don't check all that other stuff every day.
