Holy Moly! :o
I found levels 1-15 pretty doable, but 16 is making me crazy.
I fly to the right upper cave, collect the diamonds, build power plants and a wall of shields to seal the left side of the cave.
Then I put blasters behind the shields, to keep the creeper at bay and defend the drones.
That and a repulsor above the tunnel the enemy is digging.
The comined force of the drones arriving AND the ghosts kills me very time though.
I cannot produce enough blasters, coils and energy to deal with all at once. AHHHHHHH!
Am I missing something?? ???
I used 2 Repulsors on the left with 4 Blasters in front. 4 Blaster's take care of the Drones and the Repulsor's take care of the Creeper.
I'm trying a new strategy right now (sealign the roof!), will see if that works.
I am have the same problem but i seal off the top of the cavern which holds then of but then the phantoms get me like the second time and ruin the little energy plants i have
You can beat this map with or without sealing off the roof. Just experiment and see what works out best for you. Of course the shields won't hold forever, so you'd have to find something for that....
I tried repulsers; but they didn't work for me. To handle the tunnel being dug, I did 2 thing. 1) dug my own tunnel and attacked it on it's way up from the side with a blaster. 2) i couldn't quite make 1 work fast enugh, so i built a wall over the tunnel, with 1 blaster + 1 launcher to handle the creeper already pushed up the tunnel before i could cut off the flow.
Hope that helps :)
I don't remember the correct term, but in CW1 it was called a mortar ;)
YES! Finally beat it. As always when it takes you ages and then finally you win: Love the map.
This is what worked for me:
Spoiler
I built one layer of shields to seal the roof, then one repulsor under every shield, but with one square of distance.
Then filled this space with shields. The most important part is building powerplants like mad and killing every single ghost (in order to prevent the creeper they drop form opening pandora's box full of drones).
You also seal the top of the tunnel with one shield and put a repulsor and 2 blasters on top.
Soon, the top layer of shields will break, but if you manage to supply enough energy, the repulsors will keep the creeper floating with a distance to the shields, and the roof is sealed for good (if you always watch your energy production). One launcher here will slowly clear the sky again so you can use the space for more powerplants.
Dig around the dronepit and put lots of coils in range of the two portals, so as to kill them right after they enter.
The rest is pretty easy.
Emitter in the middle: weaken with some launchers and blasters, then use your repulsors to advance to the source.
For the bottommost creeper, do not use repulsors or the creeper will spill and be all over the place.
Just use at least a full row of blasters and a full row of launchers and advance slowly from line to line, building rifts.
That should do.
Ta-daaaaaaaaaah!
I've tried various combinations with no avail. Wreeper's spoiler helps me not at all unless one can define 'roof' for me as I'm at a loss as to where exactly that is . A screen shot of a good starting position would be great.
Check my video here (http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=6923.0).
The roof is the place where you dig in to go underground, putting 5 shields there stops the creeper from going down, and because the creeper pool with the drones is completely stationary they do not break the layers to let the drones through (this you couldn't really know until you got to that point). It's also possible to play it without shielding the top (slightly slower, i cut off about 3 minutes from my time by shielding the roof), you would want to get 1 blaster early to deal with the creeper flooding in, then to 2 a little while later once enough of it flows through, and 4 blasters by the time the drones break free.
Sealing the roof is probably easier though - I would like to mention however that the repulsors do not need to be built right away, it's a lot better to build multiple layers of shields before the shields break and spend the energy early on getting mass reactors.
Thanks all. Three false starts (damn phantoms and other frain barts) but finally completed it.
This mission has me stuck as well. I tried both sealing the roof as well as trying to stand my ground in the cave. I just can't get the timing right as to make enough reactors to fund my assault. Soon, my blasters, and phantom coils are starved and all hell breaks loose.
What should be the first thing to build after flying into the cave? Should you prepare lots of shields and repulsers or should you build mass reactors and wait for the last minute to build weapons?

First build one row of shields and grab the gems. Then fill everything with reactors, build a second row of shields when needed. Dig out some area for more reactors, build a third row when the time arises. Get yourself more reactors, build another row of shields. Repeat the next step if you want to, and then and only then build the repulsors.
This technique shown below is probably the best way to beat this map. The repulsers can keep the creeper back, and use very little energy in the process. But better yet, this will keep the chamber with the drones from being released. Now you can pick when you want to fight them.

Did you watch the walkthrough video in this thread (http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=6923.0)? Blasters can wait for a substantial time before you build any.
Ha ha ha! I beat it! Man this one was wild. Once you get a strong hold, it is very easy to win. I even went on to beat day 17 and 18 as well. :D

Ooh, nice find! However, you need three phantom coils to keep all of the phantoms at bay.
Also, a launcher works well once you've cleared enough creeper that you don't have to constantly push it back.
Mayby this works better if you build the phantom coils in the LS. :D
Truthfully if you were playing it like this (it will be painfully slow compared to playing it normally, I could probably completely finish the map using shields + repulsors before you could even build a reactor playing this way), you wouldn't actually need phantom coils at all - just let the phantoms land and then drop down, since you can only build weapons for a long time nothing of yours will truly be threatened by the phantoms. Launchers will clear up the pool a lot faster than the blaster once the LS is secure, and I would only start building phantom coils once you got to the ground level and needed to protect the reactors.
The first time I played this map, I tried this...It is not long before you get completely raped with drones... A single blaster can not hold them off. :(
The idea when playing that way is that you never have to dig to let the creeper into the chamber with the drones, thus avoiding them until you have more than what you need to kill them.
I find it strange that so many people have troubles with energy on this level. I can fit a massive amount of reactors it a small area like that cave. You just have to be careful not to have too much digging at once.

He does it above ground, he didn't dig anything, as of such the creeper won't break terrain and wont let the creeper out
