Title: score on zero
Post by: jem on February 07, 2010, 08:53:01 AM
what would happen if you score is 0? and how many time do you have to wait for it? 24 ours?

Somewhere it was explained that it was several years, as it is an exponential decay graph for the score. This does mean that it can technically never get to zero, but after a long time it will get rounded down.

indeed, i believe i posted a graph showing how the score decreases with time on one of the topics in the gameplay discussion forum, and yeah, it would take several years for the score to hit 0

See here (http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=309.msg2824#msg2824).

Let's assume that your score gets rounded down to zero at 0.5 points.

In that case the formula would be: 36000000/(t-3600) = 0.5, where t = time in seconds.

36000000 = 0.5(t-3600)
72000000 = t-3600
t = 72003600

Divide this by 60 * 60 * 24 * 365,25 to get the number of years (let me do that for ya: 2 years, 102 days, 21 hours).

Please let us know how you are doing at 22 May 2012 (which is a leap year by the way). ;)

Well, the Maya calendar comes to an end at 23 December that year. I plan to play Creeper World at that moment to finally give the Creeper a chance to beat me. ;)

The function is not linear.

The first minute you will lose about 14 points per second.
After ten minutes you will lose about 10 points per second.
And so on....

Oops, sorry, you are right. I displayed to number of points per 5 seconds (that's how my Excel sheet is set up).

So, almost 3 points per second in that first minute and about 2 points per second after 10 minutes.

Might be something else that did this .
Your computer hadnt enought memory or/and your working on something else .
I have played some maps for more than 60 mins before i relaised that the score was time based ,
so i filled up the maps with everything =P

If the creeper invades, I'm taking all the firepower I can get and getting up as high as I can. I'll be the last to die!

I thought the score decreased 3 every 1 second

the score decreases less with every second.  For getting a score of 1 you would have to play about a year

and if you dont believe us turn on the game, say hope before the emitters spawn, and go away and do stuff like school or work and house stuff and go to sleep etc ... and come back and check on your score :P
