A river of creeper spiralling down the mountain. This map combines elements from my last two.
I'm not sure this is that fun?
The idea was to take the spiral from Gauntlet and combine it with the pools of weapon distracting creeper from over the moon.
The river I hope is not realistically cap-able; so your weapons are not really helping you fight in the direction you want to expand.
I tried break bridging by having the wide gaps; maybe not wide enough looking at the times. I was probably too nice by adding the relay bridge.
The idea is good BUT (!) the spores are not ok. Sometimes they come from right an even with sams you have no chance.
Everytime you have to deposit a blaster and even then it can crush because the blaster is firing on the creeper in front, sometimes missing the damn spore.
I tried several times. Would made it under 20 minutes but with the crushes I ... :P
the gauntlet had the same problem... it has spores, but no sam tech!!
The spores are not set at all that aggressive, 5x 0.3 every 2.5 minutes. Plus SAMs are available at the start. TBH I never got hit by them.
No SAMs, in gauntlet was intentional, well placed blasters give reasonable protection and the map for the most part was a blasters only map.
On the other hand this map has double emitters; one small but regular, and one large but occasional on top of each other. e.g. 3/0.1s and 30/30s. This give a sort of tide that ebbs and flows; it will wash you away if you're not prepared for it.
In fact it maybe the theme for my next map: Try to balance small but regular, large but occasional and negative emitters to create a beach head with a tide flowing in and then ebbing out again.
Great map. Very hard, very fun. You have to fight for every inch, and there is barely enough room to build enough reactors to power it all.
