I think if you search here you may find some. I know I posted a few pics on Gump after I finally beat it.

Title: Gump in Double Down mode
Post by: UpperKEES on January 28, 2010, 01:32:51 PM
Has anybody managed to finish Gump in Double Down mode?  ???

None of the story and conquest maps have been a problem in DD-mode (I actually was quicker on most maps with the experience I gained), but I've tried about 10 different approaches on Gump (including suggestions I've read here for normal mode) and not one of them worked out for me.

Any help is appreciated!  :) (Or is not every map possible in Double Down mode?)

I haven't played the full version (just played the addicting game v. - I can/only do beat all of it with just blasters), but the game mechanics are very simple, just build enough blasters to hold the creep off (1.5 per creep err creeper?) and then build up & advance. :\ So I agree with you in a sense lol. Which is why I'm wondering if its worth 10 bucks to play what I've already played & mastered. >_>

the special ops missions are just 10 out of the total 55 missions u get with the full game, plus the map editor is free, and there are already almost 400 custom maps that can be downloaded, so here $10 goes a long way.

So what do I start with? I've tried:

Energy:
- 2, 3 or 4 collectors
- 2 collectors and 1 reactor

Weapons:
- 2 or 3 blasters
- 1 blaster and 1 drone (on mouth or right eye; it never came to a second flight)
- 1 blaster and 1 mortar (drop between the eyes for a few shots like Virgil suggested)
- 2 drones

It all didn't work out for me in Double Down mode.
Because I've never seen a video or screenshot I wonder if it's possible to finish this one....

I would highly recommend you to buy to full version (for about 7 euro's including VAT). The 55 levels TheBuilder mentions are much more challenging than the ones from the Demo version or the Online Simulator. I'm sure you won't be able to finish all of them with only blasters or the same strategy. Besides this you get Double Down mode af finishing, which makes it twice as hard. I'm still having problems with one as you can see.... ;) It's probably the best strategy game I've ever played (and I played a lot).

Haha, kind of an understatement. :D

Awesome approach man; you can be the captain of my ship! ;)

The funny thing is that I started experimenting myself as well yesterday with Odin City hovering in the air (at DTD, trying to use collectors on the elevations, but I finished it the normal way).

Very, very nice video! Put it on YouTube, it bet a lot of people will be interested....

But not me (Siccles?:>). I've had enough of this map =)

yyyyy... eeeee....

nice job...

I knew that you'll have a better time but not that so ...
.
.
.
after ~20minutes...

Somehow I could not believe in the efficacy of Dron on the map So I played ...
I wanted to also ask for a video because I could not understand the strategy...

But i played, and everything became clear :)
You gave me the motivation.

1) I don't record the game.
2) I closed the game before I click 'continue' and 'send score' ;x
.

.
after ~15minutes...

btw. in normal mode I had ~13:30 and i was happy :D

Most of them are incredibly easy after you fail a few times, just to see where the creeper goes first, what is your weakest point, etc, etc

one thing where you can still reduce your time alot:  dont fly across all your buildings with odin city, because you will lose some packets (canceled connections) that way. Fly over the collector on the edge, so there is only 1 connection from odin city and no packets are lost

Yes, but look for my video.
3:00 - i have 1 full reactor, 1 reactor ready in 90 per cent and third in ~30 %. i got + 2,2 energy
I built two buildings on the lower level and later I have smaller loss. My city longer stay on ground (+0,8/s), and quickly connected to the network in the air.

When i don't move Odin City. I must soar in the air my city in 2:45, I have only one full reactor and second in 40%. I need 6 second more to connect to network.

Easy solve: Download and install DivX player (http://www.divx.com/en/downloads) (free version), It installs a bunch of Codecs that WMP will use.

Doesn't take a pro to play the game.

"Amateurs will practice until they can get it right."

"Pros will practice until they can't get it wrong."

In other word, Practice, Practice, Practice.

And I used one mortar to hold the smile off until  I could build up everything I needed to fight back with.

P.S I'm an over-builder. Like I build stuff I don't need, say 10 reactors when I only need 3, 6 blasters when I only need 2.
