thought i'd play a normal map, ended up with spore spam.

You had me at spore spam.

Wasn't as brutal as I was hoping, but enough to make it worthwhile to spam some beams.

If you want to make this a little more exciting, you can do this with only one CN without pausing or saving. Go ahead, take the chance and live dangerously!
