Easy map, but with one stingy spore tower, no tricks
so how do you actually beat the spores? do you just have to build beams (without building any collectors)?
Impossible
Build a good number of beams first then move them clear of the CN and build as many reactors as possible within reach of the CN (no collectors or anything else to trigger the spores).As each reactor gets too 49/50 built disable it. Once you have them all at 49/50 turn them all back on and finish building near simultaneously(thereby triggering the spores) and quickly build collectors to connect too your beams and your away.

I literally cannot get any spore towers built in the less than 60secs before death! No power equals no towers. This map is pretty tough and beyond my skill. Prefer the other version for obvious reasons. Thanks anyway.
Spores only trigger on certain buildings. Dont trigger them until your ready to deal with them..
Yes it means the first 10 mins is painfully slow as you build the initial setup with "no power" but thats what x4 speed is for :P

Okay that's interesting and informative. I didnt know you could do that and i've been playing for more than three years. What can you build that does not trigger the spores or is it a case of trial and error?

Ore mines, sprayers, shields, beams, forge, the CN itself, snipers (I think), siphon, nullifier,
i like the map! tooks some time at the start (shorten by playing fast forward 4x)... it's a martin map...

the tactic is explained 2 posts above yours dude!
spores don't target spore towers, so you can build and charge as many as you like before building something (most other units) that will set off the spore towers!
so build spore towers only.... lots of them and as they are fully charged move them away.
plan out a collector network but do not build them, then fill as much space as possible with reactors but stop building them at 49/50 so they don't set off the spores
then save... then finish building the reactors, start building the collector network and hopefully you will be able to power all the beams before they run out of charge!

What am I missing? I've got a beach head in the top left full of anticreeper, but I can't get energy up there to start nullifying. I'm assuming I have to start nullifying from up there, but maybe I'm missing something.

LOL! Weird that there was so much confusion about this map when it came out back in the 1700's.
I'm not sitting and waiting for 16 beams to build, so why not just let them build while you do something productive? And then repeat, just to make sure you have enough for 2 rounds of spores. Yanno, just in case.
I saved this a couple of times but realized it wasn't necessary. Really enjoy the AC maps!
