i would say this map is more "annoying" (i guess, perhaps less than annoying, but not in the direction of frustration) than hard.  the lack of a forge and some aether in a pick up or a couple of totems just make it longer.

make maps the way you like, but personally on maps like this i will usually get to a safe point from which i can win for sure then give up.

sorry dude, i like the low intensity style, but a few hundred aether would hae made this a lot more fun for me!

Sorry about the AC tower destroying buildings when it activates.. I might remake this with an AC emitter instead of a spore tower, as that won't cause AC values to overflow into positive numbers (creeper). Also, to react: I may add 2 totems in a next version, but that will cost some of the syphon energy.
