Having beaten the harder version I more quickly realized how to get to the zone gadget. I still didn't get to use the bomb factory, though--the countdown was down to about 30,000 when I got the last emitter other than the one tucked behind the zone gadget. I then had to wait until the zone gadget was full of anticreeper to get that last emitter.
Very nice but yeah I couldn't make the zone storage go away before the other emitters were gone, and the final wait was indeed somewhat annoying.
I guess it is possible to get the storage earlier, if you really concentrate, but I didn't bother.
