Hi all, even map with exact spacing for though of you like me that need to keep it even as you build. Watch out for the spore towers, try to take them out as early as you can. Took me over an hour so some good fun to be had.

Ow

35200 creep per second, on a fully-digi map with zero landing space. *everything* needs to be terped down 9 levels through a digi barrier to allow invasion.

and a mere 20 * 25 spores charging up.

definite Ow

Thank you for making this. I'm always interested in playing new maps.
It took me a little under an hour to get the last Spore Tower and clear out all those big Emitters in the center.
I made some wrong decisions early and just didn't feel like starting over.
From here it looks like a whole bunch more Terping and blowing things up, but I'm not going to stick it out. There is no challenge left, just a whole bunch of making the same moves over and over.
I hope you come back with more. Your opening comments about spacing caught my eye and I like to 'build out' with symetry.
Thanks again,
H

There's really no need to rush on this map. You have 55 minutes to reach the lower 800-strength emitters before the spores begin launching. Even then, there's a 1:15 timer, so with that much time you should be able to take out enough towers to shoot them down with beams.

I'd recommend going in a pattern... I chose to build a full energy grid on the bottom, then begin taking the emitters down from the lower-right.

I terped everything to 10 just because cats have more hair than lizards. You don't need a reason in this map. Just do stuff that works and keep doing it.

My main criticism of the map is a simple one: Once you kill the final spore tower, that's the climax of the story. The rest is resolution, and since there's no inhibitor it's a long, slow resolution. I will probably finish the map later, but for me the only challenge was to take down all the spore towers with minimal pausing required.

I'd say it's a long, slow, beautiful dance... but it's just a long, slow dance. Beauty in this case isn't in the eye of the beholder (which was a great game, btw). In this map, Beauty is beaten with an old rust-laden spiked club and then kicked to the curb by none other than Father Time. And math.

Hi!
I'm really not sure what I should say - the way to the center was challenging and fun, after reaching the center, it was just a tough clean up w/o any challenge... And I think a height difference of 1 or 2 instead of 9 would have done the same...
But, I somehow liked it so I definitely look forward for your next maps!

Greetings from The Shire!

turns out Johnny is quite the poet!  ;)

i am enjoying this one but it will take me a while, i do 30 mins real time then do something else...

the design is slightly flawed for the end game but as grinding maps go it is a good one...  perhaps an inhibitor in the center??? i always think they are a cop out though in some ways!

plus all that space on the bottom is calling for berthas once i can set up a energy grid in spiral!

just been expermimenting with how many strafers i need to cut off the digi so i can secure areas of advance so prob off for my 4th restart now ;D :o

i agree with Bilbo too, the height 9 was unnecessary, 2/3/4/5 would have been fine but 9 is just adding time!7

still good work Adam, make more maps! 8)

Quoteturns out Johnny is quite the poet!

Well, I gotta do something to try to bring a smile to people  ;D  I'm very non-artistic and I realize my limitations when it comes to map-making.

I remember one map in particular that was a Death Star (I think it might have been Domonik's, and maybe a PAC map...it was a while ago) - I was like, "Wow. How do people even see these things in their mind in order to design them?" I dunno. I'm just amazed & impressed by the skills out there. (I love symmetry, btw... which is probably why I really like your maps.)

I actually love the design of this map - I lined the entire bottom with berthas, slowly switching out the reactors as I was able to rebuild them on the "spiral". I used berthas to cut off the digi, btw. Dunno if that's helpful. Not the fastest way, as it's very methodical, but it was a sure-and-steady approach since I did NOT want to have to restart this map. Ugh.  :P

An Inhibitor in the center would be a great modification, imo. But you'd need to have it well-guarded and disable the singularity weapon just to keep people from taking a shortcut.

"Death Star" was Star of Death Pac and Star of Death by Dp i think, both great maps... i am not an artist but i can do an ok copy job from an image, and i feel you on map design like that, it is really well done!

yeah an inhib on this map would make it's own problems for sure!  8)

QuoteHorses for courses, and this roan noped out.

A horse is a horse of course of course
And no one can talk to a horse of course.
That is of course unless the horse
Is the famous Mister Ed!

I actually did not know what a roan was.  ??? Had to Google it, and now I know something I'd never had known if I hadn't bought this game.

It's amazing the things you can learn from CW3! It's like going to school, only more better!  ;D

Roan rhymes with pone, and it you ride a roan, you probably had pone for breakfast.
"Mo' Better" as our friends from Maui would say.
Kia Ora.

This map was fun and a tough nut to crack.

My strategy was to get rid of the spores first w/o killing off any of the creeper spawners nodes. So i built to the middle of the bottom green grass section and just started to hammer my way up the middle taking out one spore at a time while defending each side from the creeper that remained. I managed to get up to and only have 1 spore left when it reached 99% so i stacked as many beamers as possible to kill off them w/o them hitting the undefended base down south. That worked out flawlessly so i could then move on to clearing the creeper spawners from the south east side and grind my way up slowly to the center and then out the three remaining arms was easy mode when the big creeper producers was gone the flow got much easier to deal with.

Very fun and a challange map to deal with.
