Title: Weird problem with game data
Post by: Karsten75 on June 01, 2010, 01:28:09 PM
Before reinstalling my system, I saved the CW directories in %appdata%.

I just restored it and everything seems ok, except that the order the maps were in the custom maps screen has been altered.

I remembered which maps were #1, 2, and so on, and they are now #102, and so on.  Weird.

So if I was hoping that the sort order would show me the most recent maps, as I usually did, this is not gonna work (will probably work for maps from here on, but not the older maps).

The maps might have ended up alphabetic ,
but the new maps you uploade should be in the order you uploade them .
You will figure out this pretty fast yourself i guess =)

I'll bet ya theyre sorted Alphabetically based on the random hash name the files are given when you import ;)

Import hundreds of files? That's like clicking that import button & file dialog for ever....

You can just copy them manually to that folder and they will be added to the list as well (just make sure all map names are unique). This is how I always 'import' my new maps and I'm sure that's what Karsten did.

I think the order in which maps are added determines the order in the list. This order probably changed during the backup/copy process (which could have been in alphabetical or modification date order).

Regarding the start at map #102: I'm not sure about that. Could this have to do with maps that are still in the gamedata.dat file, but don't exist on the hard drive any more?

Edit: corrected what I said about the order

You realize that there is a way faster way to import maps?
