Trying to connect the closest bomb to my network to feed it power, and the collector is just instantly destroyed with no explanation. Is the "connectable" tip just leftover from previous maps?

You can destroy/nullify anti-creeper emitter, get PZ and put there collector to connect Creeper Bomb.
