Limiting pauses was a interesting challenge to speedrun.
my first thought was to let a command node die, but unfortunately that doesn't work ;)
Note, the left big/proximity emitter seems to be bugged and always fires every 2 minutes.

you can bypass the other 3 proximity with relays and take an early forge!
sending units to the middle early is very helpful
use the forge cannon a lot
anticreep layer mostly prevents relays from dying to rain

Good call out on the relays...I did not think about them when I was doing area of denial coding. If I opt to reuse that code I will have to look into it some more.
As for the emitter that glitched on you, sometimes (rarely) when I was in dev I saw similar issues with the one on the top...no idea why but reloading the map always cleared it up for me, but it sounds like that didn't work for you. I think this is somehow similar to the disappearing land pixel bug I had on the great turtle.
In my next map I'll likely keep playing with pause restrictions mostly to make life difficult for you...you are the top time on three of my four maps...so now I have to give you a challenge.

Tried restarting a few times / exit-enter map / restart whole game - nope, the left proximity emitter always fires instantly at 0:00.

The disappearing land bug on turtle map seems to trigger depending on where you build the nullifier? certain spot = glitch, 1 tile above/below = fine?

In all seriousness...I will be building an "anti-speed running" map now...this last one only took me two months to build, so it might be a while, but keep an eye out, it'll probably have your name in it.

Feeling stupid. How do I get a guppy? I'm completely out of relays and I can't quite reach the emitter on the left. I'm not sure what to do next.

I agree, I had trouble with it after about the 20 drop point. When I played through for submission, I just didn't pause it at all...which is probably why my score was so close to an hour.
The raindrops trigger on message pauses and on save pauses.
And I don't know what the complexity is with the center part. Going after the roving units seemed all but impossible, I put the Bertha on the central emitter, put a bunch of strafers at a spot on the next ring out, then hit that spot with a bunch of bombers--nullified the center without tackling the rest of it.
