An observation on the connection to the network issue:

This time I found my guppies were only willing to mine a cell they could reach without jumping over any other terrain.  I had no reason to mine from my command node so I don't know if that also applied to it.  I know that in the past I've been able to mine disconnected cells, but the last time when I couldn't mine anything my targets were disconnected.

It's not an issue. It's a new mechanic. That's what the UI is showing, in bottom right.
