At 1:30 minutes in game-time I searched the UI for the button that brings the map to fire... right now I can't get a foothold, will have to play this nice looking, challenging map by daytime....
Greetings from The Shire!
Yeah I also failed a few times yesterday to get started, very tricky starting position
For those still wondering, my start...
Spoiler
Collectors to that free PZ, onto which I plopped a Reactor.
Pulse Cannon as late as possible, which will beat the Creeper back off the CN.
Don't forget a Mortar to protect that link to the Reactor.

The creeper is on your CN within 26 seconds, before the reactor builds. How do you protect your CN whilst your plopping your reactor down? I can hold the bottom corner and the reactor until the spores come but I loose my CN 3 times in the process.
Nice work Planetfall, very challenging start!
I never thought to be giving help to you... I'll see about some screenshots.

;D I can even beg if it helps ;)
Again, this feels very strange.
The basic concept is in A. In A2, I've pre-placed the Cannon you need to stop an overspill cutting you off (perhaps I was overcautious in the placement of it). That Cannon needs to start building (0:36) before the Reactor finishes (about 0:53, I think). If the Reactor is cut off at any point, I'd restart.
In B, you see the CN health just after being cleared of Creeper. The two elevated Cannons are both new-built and responsible for the CN's clear space. The CN got down to about 21% at 1:15 or so.
As a side note, I got that method of starting to work on the second attempt at the map, which ended in victory. Trying to recreate it took four or five attempts.
After that bit of careful working, my eventual game time was over two hours, in my normal style of play. ;) I think you'll do far better.
Definitely not a map to play when sleepy - but after a good portion of sleep, I got managed to play it, to be honest, it is not only the start what made me a bit struggle (funny enough, I used more or less exactly the same setup like good morning w/o having read his notes - obviously there is no other way to start. These totems hanging like a carrot in front of a donkeys nose...
Greetings from The Shire!
Great, challenging map! The start was hard, and so was the attack on the first runner nest... I found it useful to put a digitalis-targeting mortar in the power zone in the west (in the place of probably the second emitter you nullify). That's how I managed to get onto the spine of the Bertha after all.
Thanks to the author!
Thank you GoodMorning, did the trick, I was barking up the wrong tree and trying to get the AC too early.
Great map and very challenging beginning until end!
