Quite a tough start. Made using willbir's image-to-map tool. #NoCRPL
I love all real-life/picture maps, interesting terrain tends to make for an interesting fight.
Both maps 10/10 but this was my favourite as it had a couple of choices for starting positions and choices are good.
I think the bottom two spores should have been a little lower for (very juvenile) comedy value!

The tech placements weren't juvenile enough?!
I wonder how these Maps look in PF.
Any chance of that happening ?

;D Collecting the mortor did feel a little risqué!
Wow, such a great map! And amazing time as usual, Dom. This was indeed a difficult start, but not one that you'd fail and need to restart multiple times, at least as long as you quickly turtle up and then just progress slowly but steadily.
I love that your maps aren't super huge. That makes things run so much faster on my relatively older PC. Thanks so much for making super-cool maps! ;D ;D
Great pair of maps thanks! This was my favourite too, the start wasn't so brutal but still challenging and wide open which order to take things.
A couple of incredible times there Willbir, amazing!

There is a thread on it here (http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=23906.0)
Way too tough for me.
To be honest - I don't get the start...
I try right next to the mortar but I fail to either nullify the spore-tower or to build up enough energy to defend against creeper and spores - any hints?

Try starting on the right hand side there is a little more room plus the ore comes in very handy.
If a map looks difficult, sit back and let it run. Just watch what happens and which spot gets overrun by the creeper last. That's usually a good indicator of where you should start.
Any more specific tips? My current best strategy is:
Spoiler
Start on right side. Build 8 collectors, start ore rig, 5 more to fill space that won't be overrun for the first minute. I have energy to start a reactor at 0:36.7, ore rig finishes seconds later and I can start another reactor and put a few packets into a third. I start losing collectors at 0:56.7. First reactor finishes at ~1:04, next one right behind. Finally start a sprayer, behind CN, at 1:26—CN already taking damage. Sprayer finishes and clears creeper off CN at 1:58. At 2:20 I have 6 reactors, 2 more close behind, but need to start getting serious about defense—start a shield, then another when reactors finish. Start a beam at 2:49, with 0:25 to go on spore timer. I can have two shields up, and either a mortar or a third mostly-done shield, at 3:30 when the first spores arrive, and the one beam is—barely—sufficient to hold them off as long as I make sure to keep my energy in the green so it gets maximum resupply.
After that things kinda fall apart...as the creeper closes in I run short of AC, and I don't have enough energy yet to make good use of blasters. When I go with a mortar I don't have enough space to put it somewhere advantageous, and also don't have a good way to push the thinned-out creeper back. When I go with a third shield, I generally have to build it somewhere safe and move it into position, which costs valuable time, and I still don't have enough coverage to hold on all fronts. Either way I'm pretty much maxed out on energy—I have space for another reactor or two in back, but can't build them without depowering a shield or dying to spores.
