Ah, yes, very clever concept.
I was musing to myself about this last night.  I logged in this morning looked at the forum and you beat me to it.

Do you notice any difference in the amount of detonation from such a small vessel vs. the explosion from a larger one?

There is none. This ship (or five thereof) can, micromanaged, keep particles away from a mine for ridiculously long periods.

But micromanagement of rebuilds is not fun, so please try to limit use of this design.

It has been done by yum234 previously, with a slightly larger ship for greater effectiveness (taking one hit allows the particles to get closer before explosion, doubling lifespan.

I did it too with the firebug. They were a little tougher than yum's version.
