You have all the time in the world to set up. If / Where you use the AoO will have the biggest impact on time. First CRPL map, please let me know what you think on forum. #CRPL #RandomMovement #CW2ish
First CRPL custom emitters. Named Tremors after the horror movie of the same name.
Other options considered for enemy behavior were:
- Have shields deflect the tremors. (try to help force them into an area)
- Vary the height at which they are buried (didn't include because of too much random already)
- Have the tremors notice when one is uncovered and have the rest charge toward it. (skipped because it made the map much harder)
Let me know what you thought of this enemy.
Taking a long time to set up has it's disadvantage as it'll be harder to see where they are after they raise everything to layer 10 so here's a map spoiler to help you find them again.
Map tip #1 (re-finding the emitters)
Spoiler
Build a Terp so you have the terraform option, then pause the game. Set terraforming to 9 (for example) and paint all the tunnels with that tool. Unpause the game and after a few seconds, you'll see places you didn't mark get raised to 10 (for example) Those places are where they emitters are now and in general which way they are going for now.
I'll leave some Time spoilers here for ways to get better times because they use random movements..
Time spoiler #1
Spoiler
Use the AoO in the center of the map. The random movement command seems to like the center of the map.
Time spoiler #2
Spoiler
Stagger extra nullifiers around emitters. Having some already built when one moves into range can make short work of them when they pop up.
Very nice concept! Could be a good change in a usual defense strategy. Imagine worms like in Dune series moving towards active buildings! Spitting out creeper or emitters, like an underground spore attack. Very cool )
Thanks. Before I had them move they were producing creeper that would make it to the surface. As soon as I had them move though, It kinda felt like a giant FU to the player. But yeah if i had them bounce off shields that wouldn't have been too bad... hmm
XD thinkng about the spores, I think it'd kinda be funny if they shot out a spore if you were close to uncovering them. 1 spore at height 4, and 2 at 2 or something. maybe even cut their speed when sending a spore so the ground gets built higher before they move on.. kinda like a "healing factor" XD
another "what the heck" map. I'm sure the author put a lot of efort into this, but what exactly is happening? Am I supposed to fight the eruptions? Am I supposed to dig to level 1 terrain? If so where? Are there specific indicators of where eruptions will take place?
I tried all of the above. Then an emitter appeared and started spewing creeper. OK... so? I just quit, went in search of a map that I could have a specific strategy.

I thought the in-game dialog would have made it clear. The emitters are buried and burrowing through the planet. (they are moving around underground. They will stop moving when uncovered) You can tell where they are because they raise the terrain as they move. The longer you take the harder it is to find them (since more of the map is then at layer 10) but i'll include another spoiler for seeing where they are later in the game. Sorry it gave you trouble.
Hey, it's no big deal. I'm sure there are lots of folks that enjoy the challenge of this map. :)
It was an interesting concept and the Mass device helped uncover them. The concept wasn't my kind of beverage but I still enjoyed it. :)
This looks like it has potential. Do you mind if I steal borrow it?
Noticed by stdout. nice.

Sure just do something so I can find it :) Something in desc or post the map number here or whatever. Thanks
