Title: How to play PAC maps?

So every PAC map I've tried I'm unable to "play as the creeper". I can't place any nodes, spore nodes, or digitalis. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Okay figured out I need to place the units in the creeper, but I just have 1 node on an island in this map and I am unable to do anything. How do I make the creeper spread?
