Title: Smart Pause option
Post by: strigvir on July 24, 2015, 11:00:08 AM
Game 4 seems to have more complicated controls than CW3.
So what if the game would auto-pause during all player actions (clicking on units, opening the upgrades tab and the likes) and unpause after the commands are issued?
So for example:
1. I select the unit
2. The game pauses (better yet if it pauses when I started selecting)
3. I issue a move command/deselect the unit
4. The game resumes
Of course the manual pauses mode will overwrite any of smart pause state.

I do not like it so much, pause with p to me is more useful to me
you want it maybe for fast time?

I hope that if it's implemented, there'll be checkboxes for when you want it to auto-pause. I could see auto-pause when upgrading being useful, but when moving units I'd rather pause it manually.

I would regard autopause as an unnecessary feature myself, but if I implemented it, I would restrict it to things like click-and-drag actions.

Doesn't "option" in the title imply an optional feature already?

You meant you don't pause in CW3 before issuing a movement command and unpause afterwards? That's why I also said about manual pause taking precedence over smart pause state.

Of course, more options means more game states to test, and more bugs to fix, which means that we wait longer for the game to be released. I'm happy with manual-only pause if it means we'll get the game sooner.
