Hi everybody,
I am having a really annoying issue here: in 90% of the cases the opening conversation is not visible in the finalized version of my maps... could someone explain me how this finalization exactly works? And what exactly is the 'refresh' button for?
I tried the following combos (I reset time, delete creeper, etc, compile scripts before these steps):
- save -> refresh -> finalize
- refresh -> save -> finalize
- refresh -> finalize
- save -> load -> refresh -> finalize
- refresh -> save -> load -> refresh -> finalize
And maybe some other, even more longer and weirder combinations of the above. None of them worked reliably, it seems that the result is random, but in most cases the opening message is not saved to the finalized version.
This drives me really crazy as I already finished my map 2 hours ago and I can't figure this out...
When you save your map, is the opening message actually saved? Did you check if your opening convesation still excists? Had myself that it had magically deleted itself once (saved wrong or something).
Yes, it is there, as I mentioned sometimes it works, but I couldn't figure it out how and when exactly...
Here is how it works.
There is an in-game flag that notes whether the opening message has been displayed. Once it has been displayed, it's not displayed on subsequent opening of the map. Instead it is available in the "Archived Transmission" button in the Orbitals tab.
I know that option, my problem is that I can't see the opening conversation even on the first run, right after I finalize the map.
Anyways, I'll insert some normal conversation boxes instead, that will work for sure. Thank you for your replies!

If you played it in the editor, before finalization, are the messages not preserved in the archive? That's how it's supposed to work.
As said, you have triggered the "I've already seen it once" flag. As long as the Archive Transmission tab is there in your finalized version and displays the messages for you, other people playing your map will have it pop up automatically on their first time.
Karsten75 and Grayzzur, thanks for the clarification, I thought that other players won't see it either.
