Ugh! Got it, but that was tediously close. It certainly is a puzzle, but there's no real trick to it. Well... depends on what you call a trick. Yeah, there's probably one, then.

No idea how someone got under 3 minutes.

I gave up.
I figured out what needed to be done but controlling the CNs is so tedious I realized I wasn't having fun.

hmmm... There certainly are a lot of people who think they found the answer. If you find the solution, everything after the first thirty seconds is easy.

Just improved my time to 2:42.

Once the initial Cannon is built, you're all set, but there's a lot of tedious optimisation to be done:

  • float the Cannon to keep it safe; charge its ammo barely enough to protect the other structures
  • build the two next Nullifiers at once
  • rotate your Command Nodes so that you almost always have two that are producing energy
  • keep floating the Cannon to have the single Collector benefit a Command Node
