Nice map, ehm do you modify the emitters and inhibor or does (insert name of certain 6 year old person here) do that?

He designs the overall layouts (on paper and crayons) and dictates the terrain textures. I mod the units to make it a bit more playable. Sometimes he puts in his 2 cents on the mods though. His later creations are a bit more elaborate as he discovers more options.

Nice :) So there's progress in his works   :)
Keep them coming, I'm curious to see further maps (maybe you can show him that an AE tower prevents a fast go for the inhibitor :P )

He's aware of the AE towers and has incorporated them in some maps. We haven't gotten around to uploading those yet. Those maps are a bit crude and big enough that it gives you plenty of time to amass a huge force to win it without using any air force. So the AE towers were moot. The next time he wants to experiment with are pyramids but I haven't figured out how to make them. He's a bit of a math and topography prodigy so hopefully his maps will get a lot better soon.

Very nice. He seems very interested in landscaping and design. Can't wait till he learns to use CPRL, would be so cool to see him design a script.

He reminds me of when I was young  ::), I loved to create maps and design levels. I'm also good at math too. Once he learns coding, (I recommend to start him with Lua) he'll love it.

for non script mapping questions feel free to pm me and i'll help with anything editor based.  8)
some of my maps have pyramids in them, so if your after straight up terrain features i can record me making them and host a vid somewhere if that'd help. or just give you a step by step guide.
for coding questions the code monkeys in the coders corner will get you going. or do it for you ;)

You guys are amazing!

We're fairly new to the CW universe. I've been an RTS player most of my life (Blizzard stuff mostly). The game forums over there are brutal to newbies. Sometimes I try to help out a new player and get my head chewed off by the "masters". Gaming isn't what it used to be...   :(

However, the level of support and encouragement we've received here so far has been nothing short of extraordinary. We're still learning the ropes and having fun. We will try our best to make some awesome maps (his words, not mine). I just hope you don't get annoyed by our newbie questions.   8)

cheers dude 8)
we try to be an actual community here, there is some snarking sometimes, and occasional outright battles of will, but it's always done in a relatively civil manner.
i know how you mean about other gaming sites, especially the rts ones. i play a fair bit of Company of Heroes and the forums there are basically sewers. ::) and i've heard horror stories about the behaviour at the Blizzard fora and in game voip chat :o
we won't be annoyed by any questions, mostly we are all happy to help where we can.  8)

In other gaming sites, when you ask for help or strategys, jesus my golly, they just start flaming the thread. Saying "we're not ur slaves"... Though, this community is great. I love the CW community.

I would love to see a new map from you, they're greatly fun sandbox maps. Nudging the difficulty would make it even more fun!

I want to say thanks to your 6-year-old for this great map (and to you, of course!) Who says kids only get up to mischief on PCs?  ;D

I love seeing kids take an interest in stuff like this - my own youngest son taught himself a couple of coding languages when he was a child and young teen, and he's now got a great job programming in those languages. (Sorry, that's a little bit of mum-bragging going on there!)

Anyway, if he's yours, he's a credit to you, and I look forward to more maps. :)

In between the chorus of praise, I'd feel like the grouch. Of the 3 maps from this author that I played, this one was least fun.  it had a large swathe of terrain that was never threatened, no islands or other strategic considerations - just a straight push.
