Title: Commas and copy editing.
Post by: NoobSauce on December 23, 2009, 04:44:10 PM

There's something about comma placement (notably: lack of __) in the training sim that grinds my gears a bit...

"Right now Odin City is safe as she is up on a hill."
"In the year 13,271 Humankind had colonized thousands of worlds."

It would look so much cleaner, in my opinion, if these and others were changed to read like:

"Right now, Odin City is safe, as she is up on a hill."
"In the year 13,271, Humankind had colonized thousands of worlds.

Also, spelling mistakes:
"You'll need all of you skills to contain it..."

I might post back in this thread with other spelling mistakes if no one minds; English is one of those things for me...

Ugh.  Also unforgivable apostrophe dropping:
"Lets wait for the Blasters to charge..."

On a related note, can you please change the Cancel button to something that more accurately relates what it does?  I must admit I have no idea what it could be named, but it confused me the first time I played -- I thought it meant "stop building".

No problem with you posting grammar or other errors in the text.  Every time somebody points one out I fix it in the code so it will be in the next patch.  Just today I learned that there are two "3's" in the Adv Help menu.  I just had to laugh at how I could have overlooked that.

After you read this stuff like 500 times and it is stuck in the middle of AS3 it all blurs together and I often end up with stuff like this....  But I fix em when they are pointed out.

It's ok when its right , but if you understand what peopel are trying to say ,
it's more more important to help them .

Then you can corect them =P

If you dont understand , and want to help ,
ask what they mean .

Remember that there is always someone that is'nt very good in english .

Yes i'm one of those who writh many errors =P

So if you want to help , try to understand and ask for more info ,
instead of nagging =P

(I'm gonna post stuff here as it catches my eye.)

"There are survival pods on this world!." (Corvus, intro dialogue.  Shouldn't have the period.)
"The whole city is on alert status and medical are mobilizing." (Corvus, intro dialogue.  May be fine, but perhaps you meant to type "Medical" (as in, a division) or "medical centers")

i have to disagree with the changes you recomend involving commas at the beginning of your first post noobsauce, those commas fragment the sentence and they're not needed, it's perfectly correct as it is without those extra commas
