I built in the northeast. Build collectors immediately and as soon as you dare, build blasters to protect your base. Then start building reactors in every nook and cranny. Build a mortar as soon as possible, then another. From there it's a matter of taking land. Build a collector each time to take new areas. There are at least 2 5x5 spaces pretty early so you. Once you nullify that east emitter you can do a forge and a bertha.

Use PZs for mortars and build a forge on the first available space. I nullified the east emitter first, then the north one, then the south one and finally the west one.
