Tried a few ideas without success, any hint for how to get the dark matter beam ( do I even need it? ).

a hint from me would be...
try cutting holes in the walls near the DBeam and see if you can change where the AC/C frontline forms.

and yes you probably do need the DBeam! at least i did! ;)

Finally got it:  There's a maximum # of drones that can exist simultaneously and if there's a gap in a anti-creeper transformation wave, the wave will falter.  Not sure if that was by Yum's design or not.
