I look at all the maps. It is a pretty cool thing, but it is also frustrating as anything, because so many people seem to focus on making incredibly hard, if not near impossible, maps. There is little or no room for error. A second wasted, a tower build off by ½ square and you are doomed. You have to have several starts before you can figure out how to stay alive, nevermind expanding to conquer the totems. And talking about totems, there are maps with 40, 50 or more totems out there.
It is refreshing to find intelligent maps, that are actually fun and relaxing to play. Maps that you can certainly lose, but that also allow you to recover or to be less precise on placement and timing. Maps that as tester, I find myself playing to the very end. Maps that are not walkovers, but that also not walk over me.
I'm reminded of what Virgil said here (http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=1001.msg8708#msg8708).

I designed the game to be on the easy to medium side of difficulty for most of the missions. There are a few missions with some challenge (the first few times you play them), but nothing really terribly difficult.
Video game design has trended towards easier accessibility over the years, and for good reason. We all play to have fun mostly... not to climb mountains all of the time. Once we are good at having fun, then we want a challenge.
CW was designed so that the built in missions (55 of them) are pretty accessible, but the community generated maps can span the spectrum from trivial to very, very challenging.
So, to highlight those maps that I as a middling player find accessible, I'm starting this thread.
I apologize to the 300-400 older maps I reviewed, and the 100-200 even older maps I played, but I will not go back to see which of those maps I found delightful. This will purely be for maps from here on forward. If anyone else suggests a map and I recall having liked that map, I may add it to this list retroactively.

I have seen both a lot of 'trivial' and a lot of 'expert only' maps - They are both directed to different types of players. Either those, that want a tough challenge or those that want a relaxed game. Both of these player-types have fun with what they're doing.
As a mapmaker I find it most difficult to make a map that appeals to both of these types. It's the hardest part of making a decent content, no matter what the game. Making a list such as you're doing right now sure is a good idea - to have the rare finds stand out a little. Many people will still disagree with it, though, and that can't be avoided. I'd like to suggest one of my own maps (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=98&page=) (and yeah, only that one) as a candidate for this list :P Watcha thinkin'? XD
I loved playing Fractal! It's added.
Well.
That was faster than expected.
... XD
Check Out Project Void Chapter 1 and 2
Loved them cause you can lose-but not right away.
You have to wait-if you want to. Even while waiting there is stuff to do.
High intensity emitters, good challenge-but fun.
Loved it so much I actually named the groups of blasters Alpha, Bravo and Charlie. :D
Added new maps.

- Mountain Hiking (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1377) by Xylnalya (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/viewmaps.php?author=Xylnalya)
Found an oldie but quite nice, even if trivial.
Grrr (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?&id=530) by Hazylady.
What about that old map Volcano by Xenocat? That one was pretty good.

Thanks for the recommendation. I don't remember playing it. If I do and I like it, I will add it.

Adding Tomb Raider (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1464) by Spartan.

When I play a map in pre-approval mode, my score is not added to the list. SO even though I completed the map, if the author did not post a score before approval, there is no score showing. But rest assured, I did play all the maps in my list to the end. But after playing about 40 maps yesterday, I didn't feel up to playing the same map after approval.
Ok , he he then you play alot of maps =) .
Dont wear yourself out now , we all need the team of this game to be activ as long as possible =)
Added Corners (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1592) by Fireskull98.
Easy little map, but a lot of thought has gone into the design. The wide open spaces are offset by the lack of reactors, making this map old skool. The tech and upgrade are nicely positioned to be still useful after their acquisition. Never in danger of being overrun, but still a pleasant 15 minuted beating back the creeper.
I would like to add Multitasking (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1656) by Sqaz.
I've not seen a map like that before, so I found it very refreshing. The difficulty is medium as indicated and you'll have to apply various styles of play, but still suitable for the average player. I love it when a map maker comes up with something original!
Done.
Grab-N-Run by Dan (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1561&page=)
REALLY good map. Very good gameplay. Experts would enjoy tremendously. :)

True dat. Especially since I have the high score... (says he, just waiting to see that score disappear).
Adding an oldie but goodie: Invisible stairs (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=658) by Jem.
Added Cquante's map: Shadow of Death (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1682)
Woooo! Woooooo!!!! I'm excited! I got two maps on the list, and I'm a fairly new map-maker. Karsten75 I figured you really hated Shadow of Death, because your scores never showed up. Now I understand why. BTW: If you see any of my maps that you particularly like, and want to do a vid, I would appreciate it. The last one you did for Nazca Lines really helped my map making and my game play.
Thanks!
After a long drought, I'm pleased to add
Author: Cheesecake. Map: Gray Apocalypse (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2189)
cool map
Two maps today. Neither really hard, but just interesting.
- Spider web (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2275) by Fisherck
- Urban warfare (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2276) by Twi
...wait, I'm on the list? That map didn't even take too long. I suppose the concepts were a little different than most maps though...
Anyways, thanks. :)
Nice job Twi, Karsten has you reviewed any of mine?
Two recent "terrain" maps that was fun to play.
Nijash (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2566) and Sorko (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2568) by F0R
I feel bad. I played (and enjoyed) a few maps of my co-map approver, but never nominated them to this thread. So, to correct the omission, here are two that I enjoyed (and managed to beat).
The Chemist (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2308) by UpperKEES
and
The Hydraulic Engineer (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1294) by UpperKEES.
Hey, that's nice, thanks! :) No need to feel bad, you don't wanna know about all things that I often forget.... ;) (Like pending a map. ;D)
Adding The Giants' Causeway (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2660) by Richie Rich. Very nice use of a background and good protracted gameplay without using unduly strong emitters. If you want a fight, then this is the one for you.
Adding, for the first time, a map that I've not yet been able to beat. Stepstones (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2670) by Janus Kjempff is a tremendously well-thought-out first-time effort.
Adding one map (out of a series) - the entire series is eminently playable and the graphics brings an entirely new dimension to CreeperWorld maps.
Presenting The City (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2840) by MadMag (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/viewmaps.php?author=MadMag). Play one, play all!
Also adding an older map: If Only... (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=224) by ItsFunToLose
Brilliant new map by ejona - squares (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=2872).
I don't wanna seem self-centered here but i'd like to add my own map Waterfall:http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1392&page= (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=1392&page=)
It's been a long drought. I might have missed a few good maps, but I'd be amiss not to add two more maps to my list:
- Creeper Hollow (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=3790) by MadMag
- Mt Doom (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=3983) by Magpie
i remember alot of my maps were of moderate difficulty. though i did have one or two very difficult ones the majority were fun and interesting with an average difficulty (at least i think they were)
- To the Sea (http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/mapcomments.php?id=4012) by Michionlion
oh wow thanks!
PS not to be rude but its Michionlion
Sorry. Typo and copy/paste. Fixed.
