Title: What maps would you recommend?
Post by: ItsFunToLose on June 05, 2011, 09:37:51 AM
I used to make maps for this game a year or more ago, and I haven't played this at all recently.  A friend of mine commented about the game and I decided to check it out again.

Does anyone have any map recommendations that are a MUST PLAY.

I am looking for map aesthetics and terrain mechanics that are designed with purpose and thought.  Mostly expert level.

Here's a link to some of the maps i've made:

I'm wondering if anyone could link me to maps that have similar use of design or take it up a notch to the next level.  Not trying to promote my maps here, they're old.  I'm looking for what is on the cutting edge NOW as a source of inspiration and to catch up with the year or so i've missed.

Pick some of the Expert Only maps listed at the bottom of the first post (http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=978.msg8453#msg8453).

What newbie are you referring to? The only newbie I see mentioned here (by yourself) is CJY101 and after looking at his maps and reading the comments these indeed are Expert Only, which probably means he isn't a newbie at all, but just a new member of the forums.

I think you will do well to sort maps by the maker names of "upperKEES" and "MadMag".
The graphics, tactics, and "FQ" (Fun Quotient) are all that I can ask for.

[EDIT] - search function isn't returning what I wanted.
Try these links:

[EDIT - 2]
(Early hours here)
I just realized who you are. Just before CW2, I started playing your games and they are outstanding. I hope you decide to get back into it and create some more fun for the rest of us.

let me rephrase that, a lot of new players that make maps aren't aware of how difficult they truly are... some might think loki is expert only, which can lead to confusing map ratings. There's expert only maps that are really trivial, and trival maps that are a pain to beat.

"ItsFunToLose" has been a member here longer than I and has some seriously good games waiting for me to finish (a couple really have me stumped).

I can recommend the maps by Fisherck as well: http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld/viewmaps.php?author=Fisherck

They are hard, but still fun and designed with care and dedication.
