char images requirements?

none of my images will suit the character images. does anyone know?

   -format? size?
CW4 is gonna work like trash on my computer.

For CW3, the image has to be a .png. 96x96 is the ideal size, but other images will be scaled by the game.

For CW2, I don't know if there is a file type restriction, but the image must be 768x96 and contain all 8 characters.
Pretty sure I'm supposed to be banned, someone might want to get on that.
