Sorry for the very late reply, but assuming you've already killed the 3 drone portals and are stuck on the rock layer below them:

See the rock on the far left with a blue X? That means a certain drone portal on the map will send a packet to destroy that rock when you uncover a path to it. The drone portal in question is one of the 3 that you kill at the beginning. So in this case, the trick is to dig out the dirt tile above the rock with the blue X so the drone portal can destroy the rock before you nullify the portal.
