Wow, very useful to know this. I use Chrome myself, but I read that they're seeing it write 24 GB/day as well. Thanks for sharing!

Good to know about web browsers and the hidden things that they do when they just freeze even with a few tabs open and continue to process endless things in the background and become a pain to close or simply restore a browser left in the taskbar.
