Knuckle Cracker

This week's maps are the first five space probes to leave the solar system.
Voyager 1, launched in 1977, is the furthest out and might have passed the heliopause (the last edges of the solar wind). It is the most distant man-made object (radio communication takes over 17 hours). Pioneer 10 and 11, also lauched in the 70s, have died, but the other three probes still function. New Horizons was launched in 2006 and is currently zooming out near Pluto's orbit.

Hi.  ea, is there any chance you can share a screenshot of Pioneer about a minute in?  I'd love to see how you started off because I'm ten minutes in and just starting to go after creeper...

I certainly didn't get as good of a time as EA, but I was definitely advancing on the creeper in the first few minutes. Here are a couple of screenshots, at about 1 and 3 minutes in.

Thanks!  I started with repulsors rather than blasters, so maybe that's why it took so long to feel like I was ready to move forward.  I'll have to give that a try next...

Doh! With the low strength emitters, I failed to even notice that the map had experimental weapons enabled! lol

What is the protocol/etiquette for posting the current scores for the tournament? Just the organizer? once a day?

There are significantly more scores now than the first score posting.  I only got CW2 a few weeks ago and just starting doing these.

The tournament organizer usually takes care of it, but there is no hard and fast protocol. Sometimes users post them if there hasn't been an update in a while.

Voyager Reaches Mystery Interstellar Doorstep

I'm currently in 2nd, and in the unlikely event that I stay there and asmussen chooses not to pick a tournamant for next week, I wanted to inform you that I am leaving for vacation tonight. I really enjoy doing these, and I've been tossing around ideas in my head for my own theme ever since I started doing them. Alas, I will not have access to a computer all of next week, which is kind of the point of vacation.

Anyway, just didn't want everyone waiting on me to create a tournament, since I won't be able to create one.

Ok, I just finished playing the maps so here's another score update. Going into the weekend we've got 12 people with complete scores. Good job to all. Note that if I remain in first, the second place player makes next's weeks tournament since I was first place last week.
