i've played all cornucanis style map since i discovered them and i starting to have ideas that can be fun.
1 - walls and terrain that can be higher than 10
2 - creep convertor gates (creep to anti or anti to creep)
3 - moving creep generators
4 - boosted gates (improved flow according to the same principle as the anti-creep generators)
I don't know if any of these ideas are possible but at least i would have proposed something ^^

(1) can't really be done in practice - you'll notice that the Terp can only go to heights 1-10.
(2) is similar to what the black holes do, and could be interesting.
(3) has UI and balancing problems, given that these Emitters would need to be short-range.
(4) would let the player accumulate near-unlimited AC over time, and so is probably not practical.
