This weeks's theme is Coda, 5 code maps related to the end of something: the end of a cartoon, of Code Maps (seed = 0xffffffff), of the Greek alphabet, of the world, of a book. (Actually, "apocalypse" literally means uncovering, but in popular context it means the end of the world).
Hopefully this won't be the end of code map tournaments or your sanity, but
will be the end of vast pools of creeper! 22 emitters, 107 drones, 6 phantoms, 1 map with experimentals, and 1 map with fields await your pleasure.

what am I missing? how does pmnxhfk translate in to the the end? That one flew way over my head.

All code maps have a seed. Regardless of what you choose, it resolves down to the seed what map gets generated. He chose the highest seed. Or from your perspective, the shortest string that generates the highest seed.
Thanks for posting Mopa. Now I have something to do as the new SimCity servers are still down :)
The Epilogue map can be completed in a few minutes with proper timing with the fields. The Apocalypse map is difficult in the beginning due to a drone rush without quick crystal energy available.

Apocalypse isn't TOO difficult at the start though. Two shields is enough to hold off the drones long enough to get the green crystal energy and build a couple of blasters.
Wow, this exploded. Here's the scores after the first day. 28 scores, 11 players, and 3 completed sets!

When I was testing the maps out at first I thought Apocalypse was too hard, but asmussen is right: all you need is to block the drones with shields while you get a gem.
And (shameless plug) you can see details of the code map to seed conversion, as well as a forward and reverse converter, at my website (http://aguakandra.com/CW2_codes.php)
Thanks for the replies. Now I understand. Knowing how the maps were generated helps that makes sense.
The overwhelming likelihood is that by the time next Monday rolls around that the usual suspects will have beaten my times, but on the off chance that they all take the week off and I end up on top, I pass on the next tournament in advance. I'm leaving for Costa Rica on Thursday, and won't be back until the end of next week.

I'm leaving for Costa Rica on Thursday...
Be careful, isn't Jurassic Park down around there?
Have fun.

...the usual suspects
I normally tend to go along with existing rules, but it
IS true that the same half-dozen or so names create the games every week.
How radical (and/or good/bad) would it be if we modify the existing rules? Something trackable such as no one who has made a map in the past 5 games can do the next one.
This post may need to be moved to a different thread, but I thought it worthwhile to throw out for discussion.

I like the other idea that has been proposed.

Final results for the week. 3-second margin for the gold, but even with second place Helper earns the right to make next week's tournament.
68 scores and 17 players (11 complete). Good job guys!

17 players and 68 scores. A great set of games from mopa.
Sorry for the delay in responding. Somehow my 'notify' got turned off.
I am leaving for an unscheduled overnight trip in a couple of hours and won't have time to create or manage this week's game.
Based on the recent discussion, I would like to offer anyone who completed this tournament the opportunity to create a new one. To the extent I can, I will assist and there are several other players who know the ropes.
First one to post the intention to create the game can have it.
Thanks,
H
I'll give it a shot. The theme is Nero Wolfe novels. Rex Stout has always been my favorite fiction novelist, and to me, these are his best.
It's taking me a little time to figure out how to get started, but here's the link (I hope):
