Title: Community Series
Post by: Michionlion on October 30, 2010, 09:38:37 AM
I was think of something like the community maps but in a series. Such as someone does the first map, maybe with a little help, and then someone else does the second and adds to the story. Then another person does the third...  So eventually we have a series that is roughly about the same thing.  We may have to do some planing first, but I think this is posible.

Good Idea. Now, get started writing a story.  ;)

we can write it along the way

idea

Quote
in the year 13652 a scientist aimed his turbolaser at the stars, and changed humanity forever

the laser caused a hyperexpansion of hydrogen, dampening the fusion

the star expanded, a seeminglyinfinite amount of hydrogen emitted

your mission: confine the hydrogen and restart the fusion

so the creeper is the hydrogen.  i like it...  we would have to elaborte a little more though, make up a longer story then that.  we also wouldd have to have it span sevreal maps.

so this is kind of like the three word story game (every new poster adds three words to the story) except with maps?

YES! EXACTLY!   exept we have to plan a little bit ahead, otherwise it won't make sense

Only problem, Creeper acts like a very dense gas. Hydrogen is extremely light.

mass and density have nothing to do with each other

mass and density have nothing to do with each other
Mass: the property of a body that causes it to have weight in a gravitational field
Density: a measure of how much mass is contained in a given unit volume

            density = mass/volume

???

They seem related to me...
Okay, let me put it this way: Hydrogen is much less dense than the Creeper is (or at least acts).

that was an idea for the first map

maybe not hydrogen, maybe all of the star's various contents

i.e. sulfur, helium, oxygen, ...

sorry i didnt explain myself right, i meant to say that it doesnt matter about these two factors

you can argue that the creeper is infact the same as hydrogen in terms of mass and density or that that's how hydrogen would act under different pressures compared to say the gravity on earth (after all there's absolutely no chance that all the planets in the universe have the same gravity as earth)
further you could just say that while the creeper may have a greater mass than hydrogen you can say that the emitters are releasing 'bundles' of compressed hydrogen into an atmosphere that has a theoretical gas which is less dense than hydrogen (this is sci fi after all lol)

Just bringing this back up to the top.  This really is a good idea but maybe it should wait until community map #4 is done.
